Christine: dances with furniture
On Wednesday, August 5th, Christine Vertongen was exactly 30 years of service at Van Os-Sonnevelt. That memorable event was celebrated later that month with a gourmet dinner for her and her colleagues.
Do you fancy a trip down memory lane? Well then! When Christine started working with Van Os-Sonnevelt, the world was still looking for the wreck of the sunken Titanic. A geeky guy called Bill Gates was working hard on his revolutionary Windows 1.0. And the brand new Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev launched the perestroika and glasnost concepts. In short: quite a lot happened since Christine started her ‘furniture dance’ three decades ago.
As head of the ladies’ team, Christine ensures that all outgoing material arrives immaculate at the correct loading bay and all returning furniture is stored and cleaned according to the rules of the art. Every day, she navigates between the meters high racking and the takeaway portal where customers are greeted with a broad smile.
To thank her for all those years of dedication, Christine was invited to a gourmet dinner at Hof Ter Imde in the company of her colleagues. Chef Erik Denayer regaled the team with a series of surprising creations. From the hands of manager Gerard van Os, Christine received the national Medal of Labour 1st Class and a travel voucher.
