A quarter of a century with a smile
On August 5th, Christine Vertongen, team leader of the internal service, was honored for 25 years of loyal service with Van Os-Sonnevelt.

When Christine entered the company in August 1985, it had just digested an expansion of the capacity at Ambachtstraat. The company counted 10 employees and would grow constantly in the coming years, to move to the current building in the Weversstraat with 28 employees.
On Christine’s first day, at the other side of the world on base Edwards in California, the eighth flight of the Challenger was launched. On board was, amongst others, the Carbonated Beverage Dispenser Evaluation, an experiment sponsored by Coca-Cola and Pepsi allowing astronauts to drink specially packed sodas during the flight.
During her career, Christine saw the introduction of the fax and the Semaphone buzzer, two machines that already belong to our industrial heritage. What did not disappear though, is the smile Christine brings to her job every day. No wonder, as 5 August is the start of the National Smile Week.
