Fifth Annual Balthazar Awards

Today at the Furniture Fair the Balthazar Awards for Furniture were handed out for the fifth time. Products in four categories were awarded prizes. Gerard van Os sat on the panel of judges.

Each year the Furniture Fair reviews designers and manufacturers who actively update their product offerings. The so-called Balthazar Awards are given out to the Most Innovative Product, the Most Trendy Product, the Best Belgian Product and the Greenest Product, consisting of a coveted certificate as well as a six-litre bottle of champagne.

This year the awards went to Deconinck Collections with its D-Collection 2011 (Best Belgian Product), Veldeman Bedding with Stijn Helsen Rooms (Most Trendy) and LS Bedding with Ergosleep Clip-On (Greenest Product). The category of Most Innovative Product was presented in two awards respectively to Passe Partout with its Indoor/Outdoor model, and Recor Bedding with its Sleepsitting innovation.

Gerard van Os served as one of the judges led by Moniek Bucquoye and was able to help select the winnners along with Siegrid Demyttenaere, Colette Demil, Chris De Roock, Frances Van der Steen and Marie-Anne Desiere.
