WeBike off to London
This morning, three WeBikes have left our premises for the Olympic Games in London.
With more than 10,500 participating athletes and 302 scheduled medal ceremonies, the Games of the 30th Olympiad, taking place from 27 July to 12 August in London, are likely to be the largest sporting event ever.
The Belgian delegation counts over 120 athletes, including a small dozen contenders for a medal. In order to optimize chances, supporters of the Belgian team and the athletes themselves gather during the Games in the Inner Temple, a historic building in the heart of London, where a Belgium House was installed. Under the title ‘Cycling Paradise’, bikes and bicycle sports are the focal point of the Belgium House.
Riding a WeBike is not yet an Olympic discipline. However, visitors to the Belgium House will be able to keep in excellent condition thanks to three devices that will be available to all. Belgian cycling icon Eddy Merckx, president of the Development Committee for the Belgian Sport, has promised to test all three of them.
