Best vendor honored at Piaza Brussels
During the 2012 edition of the Brussels Food Fair , held from 6 to 21 October at Brussels Expo, the best fair vendors were honored for the first time.

Traditionally street vendors add color and flavor to markets and commercial fairs. Their lively demonstrations , folk tales and pointed humor enchant the visitor , bring a smile and snigger and give visitors a good feeling . On the Brussels Food Fair, street-style vendors have been patrons since the very beginning of the event.
"The Food Fair rejuvenates and renews constantly ," says director David Boon of Brussels Fairs & Exhibitions. " This year we have concentrated all vendors for the first time in a separate area where their talents are even more highlighted. Piazza Brussels is during two weeks the country's most vibrant market square . Since the vendors play a crucial role and that's why we created this contest in life. We are grateful for the unique atmosphere they create on the Food Fair and we want to encourage them to build their energetic presence even further.”
Gerard van Os was invited to evaluate all street vendors during the first days of the Food Fair and award a prize to the best performers.
Gerard van Os : "I think we really have discovered the crown princes among the vendors. Tension , dramatic structure , humor , commitment , recognition ... they put it all in a sticky story about everyday objects as a window cleaner, a nail file , a vegetable grater or socks. And they do it in a way where we can learn from all of them. And there is no place where storytelling better illustrated than in Piazza Brussels ."
Marc Verhavert (Aqua Blade) , Jan De Roeck (Jan De Kousenman) , Dirk Thomas (Gigant Multihöbel) and An Vrancx (Nina) discontinued their masterful spectacle and received a certificate from the hands of Gerard van Os , jury chairman , Mieke Knabben (project manager Food Fair) and David Boon, Director of Brussels Fairs & Exhibitions.
