Minister Muyters visits

This morning, the Flemish Minister of Employment, Economy, Innovation and Sport Philippe Muyters visited Van Os-Sonnevelt.

Work and innovation are two spearheads of the current Flemish government. In order to gain a better insight into the manner in which a service company from the live communication industry deals with innovation and sharp fluctuations in economic activity, the Flemish Minister of Employment, Economy, Innovation and Sport Philippe Muyters this morning visited Van Os-Sonnevelt in the company of the new mayor of Londerzeel, Nadia Sminate.
Manager Gerard van Os, the Minister and the Mayor a brief tour of the company and gave a short explanation of the typical challenges faced by service providers in the exhibitions industry: strong seasonal fluctuations, evening and weekend work, (European) restrictions on transport, the continuous quest for more environmentally friendly solutions. The minister took some time to get acquainted with the employees, was taken by surprise by the bovine curiosities in our exhibition stall and then continued his busy schedule.

VOKA – the network that defends entrepreneurs’ interests.

Since the very start Van Os-Sonnevelt is an active member of VOKA, the Flemish network of Chambers of Commerce. VOKA has a variety of services for both starting and experienced entrepreneurs and defends the interests of trade and industry in Flanders. Manager Gerard van Os is vice-president and past president of the Halle-Vilvoorde chapter of VOKA.

The VOKA website is a vast source of information for all aspects of entrepreneurship. Most of the information is available in Dutch only.

Certificate Corporate Social Responsibility

Van Os-Sonnevelt has successfully participated in Quadrant, the Learning Network for Corporate Social Responsibility of VOKA Halle-Vilvoorde.

In the Learning Network Corporate Social Responsibility, businesses engage in a dialogue with one another and with specialized consultants of Sustenuto in search of higher levels of sustainability for their activities. Theoretical concepts are interspersed with practical exercises and testimonials from former participants who applied Quadrant insights into their own businesses.

Van Os-Sonnevelt’s Christophe Landuyt took part in the sessions of the Learning Network. He made himself familiar with the basic principles of sustainable business and sought means to apply new insights to the maximum in the daily activities of Van Os-Sonnevelt and in its dialogue with customers and suppliers. During the Community Day on April 7th at the social centre ‘La Ferme de nos Pilifs’, Christophe received the CSR certificate on behalf of Van Os-Sonnevelt.

Expo-id launches ExpoLAB

On account of VOKA – Chamber of Commerce, Expo-id is to develop a new training format called ExpoLAB. The first session takes place on April 29th in Courtrai.

The ExpoLAB educational format was developed by the local Chamber of Commerce in Courtrai. It offers small groups of participants an intensive submersion of four half-days in a well-defined topic related to management, marketing or communication. The LAB session aim at immediate usability and leave plenty of room for exchange of experiences amongst participants and individual in-depth analysis.
VOKA asked Expo-id to develop a specific ExpoLAB that gives entrepreneurs all they need to know to make their trade show participation profitable.

The session of ExpoLAB take place in the VOKA headquarters in Courtrai, on Friday 29th April, Friday 13th May, Friday 27th May and Friday 10th June, each time from 8h.45 to 12h.15. The date of the round-up session – in autumn 2011 – is to be announced later.

From September onwards, Van Os-Sonnevelt will take part in Quadrant, the Learning Network for Corporate Social Responsibility of VOKA Halle-Vilvoorde.

In the Learning Network Corporate Social Responsibility, businesses engage in a dialogue with one another and with specialized consultants of Sustenuto in search of higher levels of sustainability for their activities. Theoretical concepts are interspersed with practical exercises and testimonials from former participants who applied Quadrant insights into their own businesses.

Van Os-Sonnevelt participates in the third cycle of Quadrant in order to improve the strategic embedding of the sustainability policy and the full integration of various actions and measures in our ISO 9001 quality management system.
